Birmingham’s kindest neighbourhood

Could your neighbourhood be the kindest in Birmingham?

‘Peace & kindness’ not ‘violence & anger’

The August 2011 riots in Birmingham was not only a time of fear, unrest, lawlessness and anger – it was also a time where people united in peace, kind words and actions as communities banding together through positive community spirit in a show of strength against the rioting.

Kinder, cleaner, safer communities

Greater economic hardship is encouraging us to share and rely on neighbours more, also national events such as the royal wedding has seen street parties take place in communities across the city.

Now more than ever is the time for us all to pull together so that every neighbourhood in the city can be kinder, cleaner and safer.

A sense of community

Everyone can be involved in helping to create a greater a kinder neighbourhood – from checking on your elderly neighbour and picking up litter on your road to simply saying hello to others that live on your street.

You can do your acts randomly as an individual or planned as a group.

Love your neighbourhood

Simple acts of kindness show respect for one another and can create a sense of belonging and responsibility in the area you live in.

1MAK Birmingham aims to bring together faith communities, local residents, business owners, community policing, voluntary organisations and the local council to see a flourishing neighbourhoods across the city.

Become a 1MAK Birmingham ambassador

As an ambassador you can inspire people in your neighbourhood to do acts of kindness and encourage people to log them on the 1MAK website. Become an ambassador and start spreading the word about 1MAK Birmingham.
